New Classic Trek Yahoo Group

T’Guess and I have recently had some interesting discussions with several TOS fans about a variety of subjects related to both TOS and fan creativity and fan history. We realized we couldn't find a Yahoo list which quite matched all of our Classic Trek interests. There are many wonderful Yahoo groups out there focused on specific types of fan fiction, but we couldn't find one that focused on TOS-related fan creativity in all of its forms.

So we went ahead and created Classic Trek Creative Fandom. We hope to encourage discussions of all aspects of TOS-related fan creativity and fandom history, whether gen, het or slash. We welcome wide-ranging conversations about where people draw their inspirations, whether it's from TOS canon, other sources, or their personal lives. We recognize that part of being a fan community is getting to know each other as individuals.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ClassicTrekCreativeFandom/

Join this group to explore and discuss classic Trek (TOS) creative fandom, such as:

- Trek Zines & Fan Fiction (gen, het & slash)
- Trek Art (in all forms: drawings, paintings, CGAs, etc. )
- Trek Song Vids
- Filks
- Trek Pro Novels & Films (including Star Trek XI)
- Fandom History
- Sources of creative inspiration

Enthusiasts of TOS (The Original Series) are welcome. Whether you're a reader, writer, artist, vidder or publisher, or if you just want to enjoy some fascinating conversations in a relaxed setting, this group is for you.

We welcome you to join us in our conversation. :)

Just went over and joined. ;)

Also, I wanted to say thank you for that very thorough review of the new Trek film. I'm embarrassed to say that I don't remember half the stuff from TOS that you did. Maybe I should watch my S1 Blu-ray discs before I go see the new film this coming weekend!

Welcome! :-)

I practically have all this stuff memorized - all I write is K/S and I like to really be familiar with canon when I write.

Definitely watch some episodes - some of my favorites from the 1st season are Errand of Mercy, Balance of Terror and The City on the Edge of Forever, and the latter two seem particularly relevant in the case of this movie.
I just went over and am now awaiting approval. :)

I avoided your post about the movie because I'm the exact opposite: I hate spoilers! :)

I guess I'll be seeing you at the ST panel at the con? ;)

You should totally distribute flyers for the new Yahoo! Group. Are you planning anything on LJ for this topic?

>>>I guess I'll be seeing you at the ST panel at the con? ;)

Oh yes definitely! ;-) BTW, I've been so busy - do they actually have a schedule up?

Great suggestion! (Makes note.)

>>>Are you planning anything on LJ for this topic?

Not a community - I think this list will be plenty busy. I do have the kirkspock community here on LJ.

See you soon!
Yes, the final draft is up. I requested some changes (my name has to be changed) and a few other things, and I was assured they'll be corrected by tomorrow.

Even though the second phase yielded more panels, there are still a lot of empty spaces compared to years past. A shame, but things always change, don't they?

People will snatch up those flyers! :)
Great group! I hope to answer some of the mails today... or whenever RL lets me take a break. There are already some fascinating discussions going on there and I love how wide open you two left the topics that are welcome in the group. :-)

We really wanted to encourage conversation (not discourage it), and once we started talking we realize there were a lot of topics we could include under fan creativity. Thanks for joining!
